Our Story

"Jenifa Wayacook" is a whimsical fusion of "Jennifer" and "What are you cooking?"

Welcome to our story. Jennifer's journey began in Yallahs Bay, Jamaica, in 1949, under the loving guidance of her grandmother, Ethel Monroe. Ethel, a resourceful businesswoman originally from Panama City, established a thriving homestead in Yallahs Bay, Jamaica. Understanding the value of experience abroad, Ethel sent Jennifer to Nottingham, England, with the adage, "If you're going to mash up, I'd rather you mash up in foreign."

At 16, Jennifer embarked on a new chapter, leaving Jamaica for Nottingham, England, as Ethel wisely believed in the value of broadening horizons, eventually settling in Toronto, Canada, in July 1968. There, she and her husband purchased their first home on Symington Avenue. Despite facing struggles, including divorce, Jennifer's culinary skills remained a constant source of comfort and nourishment for her family. From simple yet hearty dishes like kidney or liver with rice to comforting turn cornmeal, Jennifer ensured her loved ones never went hungry.

Over the years, Jennifer's family flourished, with her two daughters gifting her with three beloved grandchildren: Katelynn, Tracy, and Ethan. Inspired by their mother's culinary heritage, they joined forces to preserve and share their family's flavors, marking the inception of our culinary journey—a dedication to offering meals that nourish both body and soul, evoking cherished memories and comfort.

Utilizing modern technology like vacuum sealing, we ensure that the taste of our dishes remains as wonderful as when they were first cooked. Whether you're craving a taste of home or seeking a culinary adventure, we invite you to allow us to fill your bellies and hearts with our delicious creations.

While Jennifer continues to cook, her focus now extends to providing meals for friends who find themselves alone or unable to cook for themselves. It's a gesture of love and compassion, rooted in the belief that food has the power to bring people together and nourish both body and soul.

Join us as we embrace our heritage and share it with the world. From our family to yours, thank you for trusting us to provide you with delicious meals and unforgettable experiences.
